What Is Cane Aikido™

Cane Aikido™ is a structured training system that uses the walking cane to develop balance, movement, and practical self-protection principles. It is based on 3 main principles drived from the Aiki martial arts: Circle, Harmony, Flow. The movements are performed with cane and empty hand and have transferrance to any tool in hand.

I am loving this! How do I get started with Cane Aikido™?

Do I need martial arts experience to start training Cane Aikido™?

No. Cane Aikido training is designed to be accessible to beginners and experienced practitioners alike. If you are an Aikido or other Aiki martial arts practitioner, you will be familiar with many principles and movements.

Can I really train Cane Aikido™ alone without a partner?

YES. The Cane Aiki Ally™ method allows students to practice key principles effectively and efficinetly even without a training partner by using a J-handle cane as a kinesthetic training instrument in a very precise manner.

Is Cane Aikido™ only for people who use a cane for mobility?

No. Many Aiki-Caners train Cane Aikido™ as a movement and self protection practice. Those who do use a cane as a mobility device are metwhere they're at with the principles often allowing circumvention of the training to fit the need.

What is the Cane Aikido™ Continuum?

The Cane Aikido™ Continuum is an ongoing training program that allows practitioners to continue developing their understanding of the system through weekly live training sessions with founder Joe Robaina via zoom

These sessions explore Cane Aikido@ principles, movement refinements, applications, and deeper study of the structured curriculum and goes beyond the written curriculum for a diverse expereince and application of the Cane Aikido™ principles.

It's just like attending weekly live classes with the founder where you interact directly and he offers corrections, feedback, encouragement, and answers all questions.

Continuum members are able to:

• train live with the founder each week

• ask questions and refine movement principles

• continue progressing through the Cane Aikido system

• access recordings of previous sessions so you don't miss anything if can't attend live.

The weekly schedule is Mondays 11:45am-12:45est.

Continuum membership is $67 per month and includes the CaneFlow® session in the first half of the class.

Participation in the Continuum requires completion of Cane Aikido™ Essentials-Level 1 – , which introduces the core principles and movement patterns of Cane Aikido™.

Many practitioners combine the structured curriculum with the Continuum for ongoing development and refinement.

Do I need to join the Continuum to train in Cane Aikido™?

No. The structured Cane Aikido™ curriculum can be studied independently through the online training levels.

The Continuum simply provides live weekly training and ongoing refinement for those who wish to deepen their practice. It goes way beyond the minimum rank requirements of the curriculum. It's like attending weekly classes learning directly from the watchful eye of the founder who offers correctives and encourages. The lessons are recorded in the event you can't attend live so you can watch and train around your schedule. It also comes with wriiten notes and life application insights. You can get access to both (2 for 1), the CaneFlow® & Cane Aikido™ Continuum classes for one monthly fee here

I am an Aikido instructor, can I add Cane Aikido™ to my course offerings?

Yes. Cane Aikido™ offers an Instrcutor certification and licensure for those looking to teach it. Please note certifiction does not automatically grant the right to teach Cane Aikido™. Teaching requires licensure approval by CAne Aikido HQ and comes directly from the World Cane Aikido™ Association (WCAA)
